Hi! My name's Sarah and this is a blog full of everything I wish to share and whatever goes through my mind when I sit down to blog. :)

I had such an amazing day today! I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family lately and I guess Ludacris had a similar sentiment. So, first off, I babysat my younger cousins and we had a mean game of monopoly going. Unfortunately, I lost and this little guy on the right won the whole thing. Big risks reap big rewards as demonstrated by his extremely risky tactics. Then, we all went out for pizza and some arcading. Finally, we decided to go mini golfing. When we got onto the second course Ludacris and his daughter let us go ahead of them. They’re SO incredibly nice! I kept looking at him thinking I knew him from somewhere and my brother was pretty sure he was from Fast and Furious 5. These kids came by and asked if he was famous and I’m not sure what he said but they went away. Since they were right behind us, they often patiently waited behind us so my brother asked if he was Ludacris and he says, “Nahh man, I wish, otherwise I wouldn’t be here right now.” I jumped in and asked if we could have a picture anyways and he says, “Sure, after we finish the course,” and that’s when I was quite darn sure it was him. My brother also kinda matched the tattoos up and was certain. Anyways, we finish the game up and I decided to ignore them because, come on, it’d be so creepy and annoying if people stared at and took pictures of me play golf when I was just trying to hang out with my family. Since we were close we could hear shouts of triumph and despair from behind us - much like our own - and it was all so normal. When we all finished he remembered his promise and asked his daughter to take a picture of us. I’m just so happy I got to meet him and see how down-to-earth and polite he is. So, that’s my incredibly nice day. :)

So I’ve been thinking, Cali is sunny and all right? So I need a cute hat.

That is all.

Advice to my high school seniors:

Hi! So, the summer before senior year? Are you excited yet? You should be! Senior year is going to be SO much fun! I was just thinking about everything I did my senior year and giving advice to some new seniors and I figured I may as well make a blog post about it. Here’s just a list of everything I learned my senior year (that I can think of right now).

  1. Senioritis is real. (for me, it started second semester, but for many it starts much earlier)
  2. Do try to finish your SAT as early as possible (June is ideal, October works as well, December is a BAD idea - since it’s usually around finals time - but is also your absolute last chance. My last was in December and I was so stressed because of all my college apps and finals so my overall score was actually less but my super score increased only 10 points which is basically nothing)
  3. You should have a good idea of which schools you want to apply to in the next couple months. If you’re not applying early decision, then definitely apply to at least one (preferably more than one) school early action. It’ll help you know where you stand when applying regular decision and the amount of relief you get from already being accepted to at least one school is indescribable.
  4. Talk to your counselor about safety and reach schools.
  5. Start on applications early so you can ask people/teachers to review your essays and get good feedback. Chances are, around the time your applications are due, everyone is too busy with their own stuff.
  6. Apply to scholarships!
  7. Apply for financial aid.
  8. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! (I have an older brother in college but he doesn’t really help me out with anything so I basically had to navigate through the whole process myself and that included numerous emails to my high school counselor and college admissions counselors)
  9. You’re going to be accepted to some school so celebrate that accomplishment! Not everyone was accepted and that school WANTS you!
  10. You’ll also be rejected from some schools and it’ll suck. A lot. But you’ll need to find a way to pick yourself back up and keep going because nothing good comes from wallowing in pain and I know good things are in store for you.
  11. Don’t miss prom, it’ll be a night full of so many memories with your closest friends and entire senior class.
  12. Try to attend as many school events (that you enjoy) as possible; it’ll be your last time attending as a current student.
  13. Most importantly, have fun. Your closest friends may be moving for good or at least moving away for school or you may be going. Your life just won’t be the same anymore and you won’t see these people in this setting everyday next year so cherish every moment. Fall semester may seem to drag on, but spring semester will fly by so fast you’ll be walking that stage at graduation before you even know what hit you.

Good luck :)

I'm also starting college this fall. However, I'm going to a state university because I got a lot of scholarships and I want to transfer out after my 1st year. I will be applying to USC as an out-of-state transfer student-- any tips you can give me?

Hey! I actually don’t know too much about transferring but do try and make sure all your credits can transfer to USC (and other schools you’re applying to) or you may need to retake a lot of classes. Since USC is private, they’re pretty good about financial aid packages but if that’s still a concern for you (like it was for me) then I’d recommend starting to apply to more scholarships. I’ve had really good experiences when contacting different USC offices so feel free to email or call them if you need any help. Also, there are different requirements for applications based on your major and school you’re applying to so make sure you look into that. Here’s a link to the admissions blog post about transfer applicant tips: https://admissionblog.usc.edu/2013/01/17/tips-for-transfer-applicants/.

Hope that helps!

Dorm Haul!

Dorm room shopping is one of the most exciting parts of preparing for college life so I’ve been running around trying to make sure I’ve got everything I need. Unfortunately, I don’t even have half of what I need (and I move in in a month! O.O) since I’m moving across the country and it’s so much more practical to just buy everything over there and online. So, for you out of staters, I TOTALLY recommend either buying everything in the city that you’re moving to OR just have everything shipped over. For me, I’m not supposed to ship anything to my dorm room until I officially check-in but luckily, I know a few people in SoCal so I can ship things over there. For bedding and such, since I don’t have much time to shop around in LA, I’ve actually just ordered a package through my school and it’ll just be ready for me when I move-in (woohoo!) and everything else that I order online (I have a TON of architecture supplies), I’ll have it shipped to someone’s house in LA and then go pick it up. Word of advice, if you do ship things over to someone else’s house, try to not overstay your welcome and make sure they know you’re sending things over and try your best to have it shipped near the time that you plan on coming to pick it up.

Right, so I live for checklists and to-do lists SO I made a list of everything I should have as part of my “dorm haul”. My personal written list is a little messy so I’ll just type up a more organized list for all you lovelies that will be going to college in the fall. Check it out and let me know if there’s something I left off or just some other recommendations you may have. Trust me, any and all advice will be much appreciated. :)

One last thing! This is more geared towards girls (sorry guys) but I’m sure plenty of stuff on here is standard for any college student. :)

Hello lovely followers!

For quite some time now I’ve been thinking about starting a personal blog. Since I’ll be moving across the country in a little over a month and basically starting a new life, I want to document my experiences, thoughts, and just have a place to write and post about whatever I want to.

First off, let me introduce myself. I’ve been thinking about how exactly I could describe myself – since I’m such a dynamic, interesting, and hilarious person (not really, but maybe idk?) – and I think I’ll just list the first 20 facts about myself that I can come up with. After I got accepted to this one university everyone on the facebook page started introducing themselves with a list of 20 facts so I decided I’d try it and let me tell you, it’s a lot harder than you’d think. Give it a try, I dare you. ;)

I have a weird obsession with anchors and anything nautical (don’t even get me started on shirts with horizontal stripes - it’s a weaknesses)
I’m moving from Georgia to Los Angeles (beautiful weather here I come) and I’m psyched!
This fall, I’ll be a freshman at the University of Southern California
Since I’m from the south I always need to clarify that I’m going to the USC “in Cali not Carolina” since everyone assumes I’ll be going to South Carolina.
 I’ll be an architecture major!
I love photography and graphic design and basically any form of art
I think corny jokes are the best jokes
I could easily spend hours in a museum
One of my goals in life is to be 5’2” (right now I’m 5’1.75” so I’m ALMOST there) it just takes a bit of willpower right?
People tell me I smile too much :)
I was born in Georgia and have lived here my whole life
I’m a proud nerd… I study and read a lot
I love to volunteer
I’m really struggling through this right now… why can’t I think about anything else about me? Um, oh! I loveeee country music hehe J not all of it, but I do like a lot of country songs I hear
I eat really healthy and I rarely have junk food at home so whenever someone comes over I need to remember to go out and bring chips or something
I wanna travel the world
I like to bake. I make cookies, cakes, and really good apple pie! I can’t really cook anything except pasta though. Oh, and I’ve caught plenty of stuff on fire when I bake. Once I was putting something in the oven and my oven mit caught on fire and I didn’t even notice until someone came by and told me. Oh and there was this one time when I tried turning on the stove and I guess my bracelet was too close to the flame and that caught on fire but just the edges singed (it was a friendship bracelet so obviously my friendship can stand the test of fire)
Oh no I’m near the end, I love genuine smiles and laughing till my stomach hurts
 I like hiking
I’ve donated my hair twice (once to Locks of Love and once to Pantene Beautiful Lengths) and that was supposed to be my last time (I really wanna dye my hair and/or get a keratin treatment and you can’t donate your hair with that in it) but someone close to me has cancer again and so I’ve decided to grow it out to make a wig as a gift for them. The only problem is that my hair isn’t long enough right now and I want the hair to be really nice so I’ll trim it to get rid of split ends which means it’ll take even longer for me to have the right length so it’ll take some time but it’ll be worth it

Phewwww, so there’s that. If you want to know more about me, just ask. J Oh and everything below this post are the tons and tons of posts I’ve reblogged. I’ve become too attached to them to just start a new blog fresh haha
